Constricted by Gelidwolf Constricted by Gelidwolf
So this is my entry to the Make Ugly Contest, it's supposed to be a cigarette in the form of a python :D I chose to make it a python because I see pythons the same way. People first get pythons because they think that it will make people think their cool, just like with cigarettes. As time passes their problem gets bigger and harder to control like pet pythons. Eventually both can turn against their host and sometimes even kill them. Both hosts are oblivious to the deep hole their digging themselves until it's too late. That's why I chose a python as the monster. I hope you all like it and I wish everyone who is entering luck! C:

God the more I look at it the less I like it :iconpapcryplz:

EDIT----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay so I changed a few things, fixed the tubes, added his face and chest burn thingys cause I wanted him to look like he was also being burnt out like a cigarette :D changed some of the shading, nothing too drastic just things to add to the image more :) Hope you all like it! C:

Beautiful, beautiful work. It really caught my attention amongst the other submissions, it's very well done! I do love how you used the snake as a symbol, and you really captured a bit of fear here.
The colors flow wonderfully as well. This piece definitely deserves notice! I love it.

Pythons are actually complete puppy dogs; A puppy dog is more likely to attack a person than a python!
The only way they are similar to cigarettes is that they are dangerous when abused or handled improperly; as is any animal. Only ignorant people get hurt by pythons, and only ignorant people get hooked on cigarettes.

Aww, thank you, you have no idea how good you've made me feel with this comment! :aww:

Yeah, that's the result of me watching too much animal planet xD I've seen multiple episodes with snakes(not only python's but venomous snakes as well) in fatal attractions and as you can guess it kind of brainwashes a person :P I will admit though that most of the people on that show do seem to push the boundaries and fully believe that they are in control of their pet, which is a big mistake ^^; What I mean is they tend to underestimate and forget their pet's strength :) I'm guess you've had or have a python?

Sure thing. ^^ I would definitely buy a print of this if it were to be offered.
I'm thinking about entering this contest too, but I'm not quite sure of my idea yet. :P

Yeah, something I noticed while watching Fatal Attractions is that the people who get hurt by their pets are usually the same people who only collect them to look cool. They do indeed underestimate them; there always need to be a mutual respect between an owner and a pet.
I do have a python, and she's the sweetest thing ever, granted I am always careful and read her body language.

R-really?!?!? ;U; Are you sure about that, cause I like it too but even I don't think it's that good xD You should enter! Just listen to music and think about how it would feel like to be a smoker C: Think of all of the medical effects of smoking and how that would affect your life ^^ That's what I did ^^;

Yeah, did you see the episode with the performer people? They had tigers and lions, big cat's like that xD One of the tigers killed two of it's care takers :( See I can understand having a python but tigers is a little much for me x3

Do you feed her live mice? Cause I know some people feed their pythons mice that are already dead but I've also heard that sometimes pythons won't eat it if it's already dead :P

Indeed I am sure about that. :3 You are your own worst critic.
I am thinking of an idea; maybe in the "monster" category..
A few of my friends are smokers, and so making a piece like this might say a little something to them. >8)

No, I haven't seen that episode. I too don't understand why someone would want a big cat; I mean, at least pythons are predictable and easy to manage! Yeah, tigers aren't a good option. I'll have to go and watch that.

I feed her frozen thawed mice, already dead. Snakes are slow and completely defenseless when swallowing, and a live mouse can really do damage to a snake by scratching or biting it. Some pythons are finicky and won't eat dead ones, that's true. My snake has never had that issue.

Yeah, I've heard that before, I just can't help it, my visions are just so much more beautiful than my drawings xD Lol, can't wait to see it! It sounds like you'll have an even better understanding of what smoking is like then, kind of a connection if you will ;)

Yeah, tigers are pretty unpredictable, not matter how tame you think they are, you make yourself vulnerable for one instant, their instincts kick in and you become lunch :P

Oh, okay, I was just wondering cause I have two pet rats and seeing as you'd have to feed pythons meat, usually in the form of mice or in some cases rats, I don't think I'd be able to do it, at least not with live ones x3 Also, I never really thought about it that way, I've always just thought about the snake hurting the mice not the other way around ^^ About how big is your python?

Indeed; I'm just coming out of a massive art block, so maybe I can actually start on something.

Well, even if a snake does prefer live, you can always stun the mouse/rat/whatever so it won't feel any pain.
My friend actually has two pet rats as well, and they're so cute; I love them to death.
Feeding my python mice doesn't bother me because I have no personal connection with said mice. :)
They're bred to be feeder mice.
My python is only 1 year old, so she is still very small; she's two inches shy of three feet long.
I only feed her once a week, also. So I'm not like, killing mice every single day or something. xD

Yeah, starting on art pieces once you finally get an idea, no matter how small the idea is a good trick to getting out of an art block :) One idea leads to another and soon your not blocked at all :D

Aww, really? What a coincidence xD What gender are your friends rats, just curious? :? Mine are both male :)

Ah, I see, I still don't think I could do it x3 I'd still feel awful about it :P I guess I just feel bad for them, like they don't deserve it, their only purpose in life was being eaten ^^; Dang, I'm starting to sound like one of those really annoying animal enthusiasts xP Not that I have any problem with animal enthusiasts but some of them find problems in EVERYTHING, even if its ridiculous :O

Sadly, I care for a patient who had smoked almost her whole life. Your picture pretty much sums up what a smokers later years will be like. Gasping and struggling for each precious breath...like Marley's Ghost, the oxygen cannula becomes the chain forged by a life-time of slavery to cigarettes.... VERY well done piece. Excellent analogy.

Yeah, it's sad to see people suffer like that, especially if it could have been prevented so easily. I'm sure that a lot of patients who suffer from smoking related diseases, knowing how it would affect them later, would have not even started the habit to begin with. Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed my piece! :)
