Fuzzy Wuzzy Was a Bear

This is my cat, Beringer better known as Bear :>
I wanted to paint something that I could print and hang somewhere and at first I wasn't sure what the painting should be of until I came across some gorgeous pieces from TamberElla's gallery which inspired me to do a portrait of an animal and what better animal than my baby, Bear ^^ I used this tutorial from Tamber's gallery to help me with my shading methods(along with a good image reference of Bear) and I encourage everyone to check it out since it's really helpful:


I'm fairly happy with how this turned out but I definitely do have a ways to go to understand colors, shading and perspective in a more flexible and manageable way At the moment I can only achieve hyper-realism through mimicking a photo reference and making slight changes to it here and there My goal is to eventually be able to take my knowledge of these things and be able to verge away from the photo reference more but still keep that really realistic quality

This is actually a pretty personal piece for me since Bear is like my best friend and he spends a lot of his time with me in my room just hanging out. I love him a lot and he's more like family than just a pet >U< He's my old little man now but he's still plenty spry xD He's my cutie patootie, fuzzy wuzzy, booger, sugar booger, bubby and plethora of other endearing names~ ;w;

On a side note, I was thinking it might be cool to open pet portrait commissions at some point Though do to how much detail and time goes into pieces like this they would be pretty expensive compared to my regular commissions

I might go back and fix a few things later today, now that I've posted it I've noticed some places where my sketch is still somewhat visible which is kind of an eyesore OTL
